Disable Citations in Logos 8 when pasting into a Sermon doc

Logos: 8 Silver Baptist (Logos Bible Software 8.0 SR-2 8.0.0.0591)

PC: Windows 8.1

How can I disable citations when I copy from a resource (Bible or book) and paste into a Sermon doc?

I have turned off the citation command in "Program Settings" and I do not get citations when I paste into a Word doc. But when I paste into my Sermon doc in the Sermon Editor I get a box containing the (1) Resource name and (2) the text I copied. I do not need my teaching notes filled with these big boxes.

I am a desperate Sunday school teacher trying to build my teaching notes in Logos instead of Word. Logos 8 is blocking me at every turn. Do I go back to Personal Books and use Word like I have for many years? If I do that then I wasted $542 in upgrading to Logos 8.

I have developed a "work around" but that just takes more time when I shouldn't have to waste that time. For heaven's sake, I am 72 years old and my time is running out here. I will not need Logos in the heaven, I will be with the "Word" Himself.

WORKAROUND: It you are having the same issue then do this. (1) Paste your text after text you have typed in the Sermon editor or (2) If you want the pasted text at the beginning of a blank line then type a "Space" then paste your text and then remove the space.

If anyone knows of a way to turn off citations when pasting into Sermon docs then please let me know.

Don, I am a little confused as to what you are referring to. I am not seeing citations when I paste into a sermon doc (see screenshot) does yours look different than this?

Per your image, I am calling these boxes around the content that you pasted, the content and the resource name as a "Citation". I may be wrong in using that term for them but nevertheless I only want the selected text inserted into my Sermon doc.

Update: Yesterday I was reading in the Logos Help file and I discovered that the only way to get the "text" only is to paste it in after text in the Sermon doc. This is what I had discovered as a workaround is a previous post.

Below is the entry from the Help files.

Note: To paste plain text without inserting a Resource Fragment card, type a SPACE into the paragraph first.

Assumption: There must not be a way to turn off the insertion of the Box and Resource name with the desired text. So I will just use the "Space" trick and go back and delete the space.

This is a good example of the complexity of the Logos code in that the programmers do not want to build in the turn-off feature or the code is so massive that the insert of the feature to turn off or turn on the insertion of the box would be too great a task. I do wish the Faithlife programmers would spend more time debugging the existing code and less time building more new features that create more bugs. (Please pardon my negativity.)

Yeah those aren't technically citations but I see why you would call them that. Out of curiosity, why do you wish for those to be turned off?

I do appreciate all the help you have given me with the Sermon Editor.

I was hoping to use it as a teaching tool for my Sunday school class but due to a number of problems and limitations I am going back to Personal books. The final straw that made my decision to scrap Sermon Editor was yesterday while teaching my class on my Mac and Logos would not display Bible text when I placed my pointer over a reference. I just told the class that my Bible software was acting up and I moved to another point. I did feel stupid.

So this morning I am copying from the Sermon doc and re-formatting my lesson plans for Genesis into MS Word. It is great to be able to set my text size again and many other things that Logos "just can't do".

The Sermon Editor played a big part in my decision to upgrade to L8 Silver. Oh well, the upgrade only cost me $542 but I did get few more resources.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you - and I understand the Personal Books solution works for you.

Just to follow up on a couple of points you make regarding the Sermon Editor - for if you want to use it in the future.

Logos would not display Bible text when I placed my pointer over a reference

You need Ctrl-hover (on Windows - I assume Cmd-hover on Mac) for this

It is great to be able to set my text size again and many other things that Logos "just can't do".

It is possible to adjust text size in the Sermon Editor

Ok, now I understand the frustration point. I think this actually stems from using the sermon editor for something it was not intended to do.

The sermon editor is for creating a manuscript, handouts, and exporting slides to either Proclaim or PowerPoint. It is not intended to be displayed and used live in front of people unless I am missing something.
