Can I see a note regardless of version I am using?

Hi I am brand new, Logos 8 was my first purchase.

I have noticed when I make a note it is only in reference to the Bible I use. Is it possible to display the note card despite what version I am reading?

I am also looking at exporting notes, but cannot find an option for this.

My biggest hesitation is having all my notes in the logos system, I would like a back up method somehow to have peace of mind. Is this something others worry about?

Hi Brian - and welcome to Logos and to the forums.

I have noticed when I make a note it is only in reference to the Bible I use. Is it possible to display the note card despite what version I am reading?

It depends on how you create the note - whether you tie it to a specific portion of text or to a verse (or set of verses). These two options are known as creating a note "by selection" or "by reference".

This results in a note that is just visible in the NIV

If I create a note by reference

it appears in all resources with Bible indices - including Bibles and Commentaries

If you look at the anchors associated with the notes - I have selected them both in the Notes Tool to demonstrate this - you can see that one is tied to a specific version and one is not

(Incidentally, the Notes system in Logos 8 is different from that in Logos 7. There used to be a feature of "sympathetic highlighting" where a "note by selection" could also be displayed in other versions. This functionality will be returning to the new Notes Tool at some stage)

I am also looking at exporting notes, but cannot find an option for this.

There is a Print / Export capability available by clicking the three dots at the top right of the Notes Tool

My biggest hesitation is having all my notes in the logos system, I would like a back up method somehow to have peace of mind. Is this something others worry about?

It is a concern a number of people have expressed and there have been requests over the years for a more extensive notes backup / restore capability. It doesn't particularly concern me but I know it does some people.

Hope this helps - and please feel free to post back with any questions about the use of Logos software.

    Graham

If this were something I was worried about I would probably just keep a backup of the NotesTool database file. Mine (on Mac) is found at: /Users/Reuben/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/dwmcnkf7.sn3/NotesToolManager

I have a lot to learn, but these forums are incredible.

    Thank you again!
