Newbie Layman Questions About Logos 8 Usage - Shep & Barn

Hello everyone! I've noticed that whenever I open a Bible now that there appears some highlighted text that says either "Shep" or "Barn". Can someone educate me as to what that is and why it's there and how it edified and beautifies my life, side profile and study of the scripture? lol
