I can't seem to find this anywhere. I'm trying to organize and streamline my files on Windows XP. Can I move the "Logos Log Files" directory somewhere rather than right underneath "My Documents"? Or is it alwasy stuck there?
There is no way to change that path so leave it there. It's small and convenient (if trouble strikes that's where we expect it to be for diagnostic purposes).
Dave, how about creating a symbolic link to a different location, and moving it there?
It can be done in Vista & Win 7 but may not be possible in XP! I doubt the complication is worth the effort, even in Vista/Win7
Yes, I do take your point Dave. For me there's no reason to move it, given that it's hardly in the way and takes up virtually no room at all.
Thank you all for your input. I guess I'll leave it there. I would like to say something that I'm sure the programmers have already thought of... I have Logos installed on my computer. MY computer, not Logos', not the programmers', not Microsoft's, not Toshiba's. I am not a programmer and I don't plan on becoming one. But I find it a little... controlling, to say the least, that I can't determine where Logos (or any other software) can or cannot be installed, or what directories or files will be planted in my documents, or my settings, or whatever. My impression from these posts was, "it's easier for us if you just leave it there." I can see how that makes sense... I find it a little incredulous that it HAS to be there instead of in C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4..., and that there isn't a way to set this directory from within the Logos program settings. To be honest, there may have been such an option when I installed; I can't remember. To respond to Jonathan Burke's post... I'm glad there's no reason for you to move it, and that it's hardly in the way and takes up virtually no room. Great! But even if it doesn't take up room, I would like to have the option of moving it if it IS in the way (which it kind of is, but oh well). To sum up: I'll leave the directory there because I'd rather live with it there then uninstall the program, but I don't appreciate having no choice about where the program is installed and keeps resource files.
I really like using Logos4; I think it's a great program, and I use it all the time, and in the past I have tried to be supportive by sending in typos, problems, etc. for the good of everyone. I have always received excellent customer support and I expect to receive it in the future. But I'm a little disappointed by this whole "don't mess with it" approach to keeping files in a fairly prominent location (I mean, I would have expected a log file to be kept tucked away in the user settings somewhere, not under "My Documents"). It's not like I'm trying to rewrite program files or make different book files kept in weird places. This just seems like kind of an odd place to keep a log file, and even odder that it CAN'T be kept somewhere else.
On that note, I actually really wish I could change the directory of where the user files and documents (like clippings, note files, etc.) are kept. I wish there was a setting within Logos that allowed me to say I want them in such and such a place. Again, I find it a little controlling on Logos' part. If anyone has the right to be controlling, it should be the customer. But I suppose that a programmer can't always think about that. I know they're just doing the best job they can. But still.

If there was a program setting I would say so. Using a symbolic link to redirect it still leaves something in the original location and would only be possible if your Windows XP version is installed on the NTFS file system. One advantage of the current location is that it is not hidden, unlike the Logos4 folder.

I doubt that you will see configurability to the extent of Libronix v3, having gone through the initial beta program and the various reasons that Logos have chosen a user-specific location for the installation instead of Program Files. Your one real choice is to (custom) install L4 to another folder.
