God, Revelation, and Authority is on sale. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
It's a monstrous historic achievement for American evangelicals that had a wide impact for at least 20 years after its publication, but is referred to less and less. Primary interest now is probably church history, especially Evangelicals, which makes it difficult for me to justify even at half price. It does not strike me as strange that Crossway is trying to keep it in print considering their stance on its main thesis, but even confessional theologians are more often referring to Barth for 20th century thought, and if they want a stronger stance on Biblical Authority, just go back further (it's not like Calvin is really in need of an update in that category). I've thought about buying it, but I've resisted even at half off. On the other hand, I've never read it, I am only giving you my thought process as a fellow shopper.
