Please excuse the double post (also in iOS mobile app), I can sync from my iPad Air 2 to my MacBook Air (2017) BUT NOT from the MacBook Air to the iPad! Not sure where the problem lie but this is a new problem which occurred at some point AFTER the release of L8. It worked well right after the release but got broke somewhere along later.
