Question - out of hard drive space

Please forgive me if this question has been asked before, but I cannot find anything on this subject. I now have Logos 4, but I am getting an error message stating that I am out of hard drive space. This is strange because I have a 400 gig hard drive. I have repartition the drive so I could have "two hard drives." I use my "c drive" for the OS and computer programs. I use my "d drive" to store all of my data files. Before installing Logos 4, I had just under 5 gig. Is Logos 4 that big of a program? I am taking a guess that it is my books that is taking up sooooooo much space. Is there a way to move the books to my data drive? thanks

The Logos4 program is quite small. Only 20-30 MBs. However, the resource files for each of your books, and the index files, take up heaps of space. If you have one of the larger packages, its 5-10 GB for the resource files, and another 2 GB or so for the index files.

During the install phase, you are asked to install, or custom install. You need to select the custom install, and then you can select or somewhere, other than your small C: drive.

Sorry, at present there is no supported way to store the data to a different location, other than a reinstall.

(The entire application and the data files are in the same parent directory, in your AppData for the user account you install to.

Some users have explored using the hard-link feature of later versions of Windows, so you can in effect, redirect a directory location in C: to somewhere else. I have not tried this, but its maybe an option.

A number of us still hope that Logos might accept the need for a setting to allow the data to be stored to multiple locations for exactly what you describe.

Or you can re-install on data drive using Method 2 at Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers

I noticed in another forum (http://community.logos.com/forums/p/17665/133063.aspx#133063) that another user is apperently having issues with Logos and his backup/sync software programs. Am I going to have the same issue by moving Logos $ to my data drive?

You might want to get your security suite to exclude the Logos4 folder from being
scanned. There is always the possibility of a clash with another program but that should not prevent you from adopting one of the suggestions to fix your problem. The alternative is to use a third party partitioning program and make the C:\ drive bigger!
