Open links in floating window?

Is it possible to set it whenever you click a link that opens a new resource to always open that resource in a new, floating window that is separate from the main window? If not, is it at least possible to set it to always open in a specific column?

Hi Zach,
Press the Shift key when you click on the link. That should open it in a floating window.
