How do you teach from Logos 8?

Hi all, looking for some input and ideas from everyone on how you teach from Logos 8. I must have been "doing it wrong" because the upgrade broke how I was using Logos!

I am specifically talking about verse-by-verse teaching, not stand-alone sermons. I understand and appreciate the sermon feature. But for verse-by-verse teaching, I have been:

1. Highlighting the part of the verse that I want to make a comment on.

2. Selecting "add a note" into a single notebook on that Bible book, eg: "Matthew Teaching Notes."

3. When it's time to teach, I'm selecting that notebook and printing it.

This gives me a document that has all my notes, ordered according to their reference, that starts with the reference itself and the text that I highlighted and includes my notes, cross-references, copy/pasted book quotes, etc.

This has served me well until now. Now in Logos 8, when I add a note, it is not added to the notebook in the order it appears in the Bible (verse 2 notes should follow verse 1 notes) but appears by created date, or modified date, with no ability to sort by reference.

Then, when printing, it does not include the reference or the highlighted part of the verse. It only prints the note itself.

So I'm assuming I was using Logos in a way Faithlife did not intend or imagine many people using. How should I be attacking this verse-by-verse teaching in a way that fits with Logos 8 and hopefully their future release path?

    Hi Titus,

FL rebuilt the Notes Tool from scratch, and in doing so, some features didn't make it back in yet. The ability to sort by reference is coming back to Notes, it's actually #1 on their list—see the bottom of this page: https://www.logos.com/faq/notes

So I'm assuming I was using Logos in a way Faithlife did not intend or imagine many people using. How should I be attacking this verse-by-verse teaching in a way that fits with Logos 8 and hopefully their future release path?

    Try this:

In the Notes Tool, select the Notebooks icon. This enables a third sorting option: Notebook.

In this sorting option, you can manually drag the notes into the correct order.

Then, select the notes you want to print (Shift+Click) and Print.

    Does this help?
