Original Published Format View with Image

I think is the right time to ask Logos to give us the user a option in the next version of Logos to view the book in the original published layout, for example, text + picture, and different color heading for title subtitle....

For example the Zondervan Encyclopedia of the Bible should be presented as show in the sample pages from the printed edition.

By the way, what happen to the images in some of the books when a book been process in to logos system? I remember some of the book I have came across have image represented by a link, and when you click on the link the image shows in a

separated
pop-ip window.

This will also allow us to have a bibliography refernce with the actual book page number of the actual physical book, which I think is a good idea for student and teacher.

I do hope that 4.0 will improve on the readability/ faithfulness to the formatting of the print edition aspect. it is already difficult to read on a computer, it becomes really challenging when the layout of the print version is discarded in favor of what we have now.

I understand that there are programing issues associated with keeping the print edition layout and providing all the extras and customization thet the Logos edition has.

A solution could be to have a search mode (basically what we have now) and a reading mode (which faithfully reproduces the layout of the print edition as an image or as something akin to PDF format). it would be interesting to see the latter "mode" adapted for use in netbooks/ e-readers .

I would like to move all my library into digital format, but I cannot read anything longer than a journal article in the present format.

if Logos books were available in a E-reader format compatible with the major E-readers (Kindle, Sony...), I would buy an E-reader in a heartbeat even if that means having only the most basic search function.

I hope and pray that 4.0 development had the foresight to advances in technology and the emergence of E-Readers and Netbooks as viable alternative to print books (this applies more to the former). I am excited about the potential of E-readers and I hope that Logos will not miss the boat.

Can you be more specific? I'm looking at A. T. Robertson A Grammar of the Greek New Testament... , p. 303 Chapter VIII, "Conjugation of the Verb." Other than line length which is dependent on the size of the font I choose and whether I have it full-frame or half-frame, it looks pretty much the same to me. What's your concern?

How does Amazon Kindle work? Does it allow user to read the book in the original published format with picture and diagram as the original position?

Ditto for me as well, George ... and I have one eye severely affected as the lingering residual from a couple of "deep brain" clots (corrective lens can only help to a point in my case, unfortunately). I have set up specific work spaces for at length, in-depth reading of books and journals with no eyestrain or difficulty at all.

I do know this is the general consensus for e-text reading comfort: whereas preferred typeface fonts for body text in "hard copy" books is serif, just the opposite is true where e-books/journal reading is concerned. Sans-serif such as Ariel, Optima, Franklin Gothic, etc., is much preferred for the body type in e-books over the traditional print Times Roman, Bookman, etc., typeface fonts. Reduces eyestrain, go figure.

I also have a monitor with several settings specific to extended reading, graphics in Photoshop or films/movies, as well as the ability to define custom preferences. This helps as well of course, though I did fine before - it's just a nice perk to have subtle distinctions for me.

I'm also experimenting with the beta speech add-in, although I generally read along with that most of the time. I'm hoping the speech module will become more refined with release 4, perhaps eventually with the ability for end user tweaks - that'd be on my extended wish list, anyway.
