The Etymological Dictionary of Greek has arrived with a font bug
The Etymological Dictionary of Greek has arrived

It has some rectangles instead of glyphs, like ⮘PG?(V)⮚
What I could find Unicode characters (U+2B98) and (U+2B9A). It is some sort of arrow.
Anybody who has the print version could check what kind of character is intended?
Not a big deal, but probably easy to fix

Here is a screenshot example
You can see a rectangle in the end of the first line and a similar rectangle on the same line before the abbreviation IE.
Those squares probably indicate some sort of parenthesis, perhaps arrow-like.
(I have my own Greek font in the dictionary, please don't worry about that.)

ἔρχομαɩ [v.] ‘to come’, also ‘to go, travel’ (Il.). IE *h1ergh-, *h1er- ‘move, go’
It's some kind of Wingdings magic. Even so, if you look closely, it's not quite the same. Hence, it's a non-standard glyph.

Ok, thanks a lot Lee, it is something I was expecting.
For me it does not look visually the best, I think some other parenthesis/bracket type would be visually clearer.

I noticed the same thing this morning when I was using it. I also agree with you that a different bracket would be better.

Thanks! I checked some of the original samples you posted and it appears to have been fixed. Great tool, but not as informative as I thought it would be. Still it’s great to have!
