6303.Logos Log Files.zip

Every time I open Logos I get a "Not responding" message.  This afternoon (UK time) I have tried to open it 5 times on my laptop to use it to follow an online sermon but it froze with this message and I had to close and reopen it.  When it did work and I went to open a passage it froze again or took well over 10 minutes to open anything or refused to work properly.  As a result I spent so much time trying to open Logos that I missed listening to the sermon and did not get much out of it.  Please help.  I thought that Logos 8 would stop this problem but it seems I was wrong - it has been just as slow and unreliable as Logos 7 today - it's no wonder I have to rely on the phone app instead! It did work well a few weeks ago when I first downloaded and installed Logos 8. My husband has suggested optimising Logos on my machine but I don't know how.  Please help!

Hi Carol! Sorry you are having troubles. [:s]

I am not an expert at reading logs, nor am I a windows user. I do have some thoughts and/or questions for you.

    • How much free space do you have on your computer?
    • Is windows up to date? It seems to me that you are not, but I can't tell for sure.
    • Have you tried opening to a blank layout? I believe that you press and hold the control key immediately upon startup on windows.

    Hi Carol,

    Thanks for uploading the logs.

They show that some of your logos databases have been corrupted. It's possible that the corruption was caused by the freeze/crash, but more likely the corruption is the source of your problems.

    So:

    1. Close Logos.
    2. Delete the folder C:\Users\Carol\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\hbrcx4vj.c0q\LibraryCatalog\
    3. Ideally, scan your hard drive for errors.
    4. Re-start Logos

When you restart, Logos will have to rebuild the library catalog. That will take a little while (5-30 minutes), and there'll be a notification in your library while that takes place. Once it's done, hopefully Logos should behave much better. If it doesn't, please let us know and upload a fresh set of logs.

And you optimize by the Program Settings and changing things to make the software run smoother. Your husband should be able to help you.
