I have identified and listed below several major problems in the Logos 8 note system, that if fixed would make the note system far superior to Logos 7 notes. Without these issues being resolved, the Logos 8 note system is time-consuming, a downgrade in Functionality and difficult to use. They have sacrificed Functionality for other so-called benefits. Many people are extremely disappointed. They keep saying that they will bring back Features of Logos 7 Notes, but it has been MONTHS and I have not seen any improvements.

Problems:

1 - Name the note at the top of the tab so I can easily identify the note. When I have 10 notes open it is difficult to find the specific note because THEY NO LONGER ALLOW US TO NAME THE NOTE in the tab so we can identify it easily.

2 – Linking resources by citation in the Body of the Note. It is very difficult to copy Links, anchors and rearrange the order of links/anchors now. This is a major problem and takes up valuable time.

3 – Open the whole Notebook when clicking on a note in the Bible passage. In Logos 7, when clicking on a note it used to open the whole notebook. Now I have to spend time looking up the book separately. This takes up too much time. If you could click the name of the note at the top and open the whole book that would be much faster than having to go search manually for it.

4 – When hovering the mouse over a note in your bible using Logos 7, you used to be able to see, not only the content in the note but the NAME of the NOTEBOOK that the note was in. Now I do not know where the note is located because you can no longer see the name of the notebook any longer. The name of the Notebook is missing at the bottom. Major inconvenience.

I have been with this company over 10 years and have upgraded several times with delight, but now with the Logos 8 note system, although easier in some areas, has lost the edge it once had. I am extremely aggravated and disappointed in the Functionality of the Notes in Logos 8 - I would recommend the system to NEW PEOPLE, but warn you that after years of learning the program they have totally lost many very useful functions in the note system that now waste so much valuable time. So buyer beware...

I appreciate your frustration - but posting the same thing in multiple locations makes it more difficult to engage with.

But some thoughts / comments below.

This is a feature that is not currently intended to be restored.

When you say you have 10 notes open do you mean you have 10 instances of the Notes Tool? I'm struggling to understand what you mean, sorry.

This is something that was reintroduced during a previous beta but due to some problems had to be taken out again. Hopefully it will return soon.

Can you please explain further why this would be helpful?

I can see some scenarios but want to understand how you envisage using this.

probably half of my time on Logos ( which is probably 20-30 hours a week) is spent in the notes system. I have both gone to the MP seminar to learn logos 8 and have viewed all his videos on line. Having said that, there is a huge learning curve with the new system. Once I got my mind around the fact that this is a completely new approach, I learned to like some of the features and work around other features I miss. HOWEVER... there are two major things that must be fixed soon...

1. When you copy a resource into the notes the hotlink back to that resource is no longer there. That is a huge problem when putting all your work together to develop a sermon. I used to be able to choose certain citations to quote or put in power point. Things pasted better from the original resource because you could better use the visual copy feature. Now it is a lot slower getting back to the stuff you found.

2. Notes within a notebook that are linked to verses (most of mine) should be listed in Biblical verse order. If I open my notebook labeled Galatians, it is a pain in the neck to try to read through old work I have done in a logical manner when those notes only show up in the order I made them rather than verse order.

When I first started using Logos 8 notes without the MP training... I was ready to throw out the whole system... so frustrating! I have learned to tolerate, even like some features... but these two items really need to be addressed.

May I chime in? I used this feature every time I exported Notes from a Bible chapter into a file.

The export feature only exported Notes from the current Note document. Any Note from a different document had a flag in the current Bible chapter, but was ignored during export. A second survey of the chapter's Note flags by hovering over each one would show which were attached to a different Note document. Then the missing Note could be manually copied into the exported file.

Thank you, Graham, for drawing out these explanations of what users need. I'm sure the developers appreciate the clues.

_{Yes, I have more than One instance of the Notes open at a time. That is the only way to work on multiple Note Books at the same time.}

_{If I am working on “The Deity of Jesus” and have 7 Different concepts proving his deity, I need to put each concept in a unique notebook. Each notebook has many notes for that Idea.}

In Logos 7 you could see the name on the TAB at the top, the name of the notebook would be visible, so you could identify the note QUICKLY. _{To be able to Identify the notebook without having to open it is extremely efficient. If I already have that passage in a particular Notebook, then I do not need to add it. I can clearly see what notebook it is in by hovering the mouse over the note.}

Thanks for the detailed explanations - very helpful.

It is now a lot clearer why you want these particular features restored.

One of the reasons that in Logos 7 we saw the name of the Notes Document is that each Notes Document was separate from every other one as opposed to the new Tool where all Notes are contained within a single database with metadata (such as notebook) being used to distinguish them.

So in the old system, clicking a note opened its container - a Notes Document - which had a unique name and so was shown in the tab.

As this is no longer the case I understand why the Notes Tool doesn't reflect the name of individual documents - but I understand from your explanation why that would be useful.
