how to exclude a passage list
I have not, by any means, mastered the search capabilities of the L8 software. Thanks in advance for your help.
Let's say I have done my awesome morphological search and I have created a passage list with almost everything I was looking for. The results look something like "In my heart" Very nice.
But now I want to see the New Testament WITHOUT that lookup. Why? because not every instance of the word "Heart?" is preceded by a preposition and a pronoun. I want to know what I am missing.
I have tried every which way to use the ANDNOT command but I am getting false results.
I recently learned how to sub search a passage list. Now I want to sub search everything that is NOT my passage list.

Hi Robert - and welcome to the forums
Sorry but I can't quite grasp what you are asking.
When you mention "passage list" I think you might be meaning "search" but I'm not sure
Are you able to post a screenshot (using the paperclip icon in the forum editor) showing what you have produced and explaining what different result you are trying to get?
Thanks, Graham

I think Robert is referring to this thread about searching for something, saving it as a passage list, and then searching within that list.
Now he wants to exclude everything in the passage list from the search results.

I'm puzzled as well, but I'll assume the "in my heart" passage list is OK. So search for "heart" and create a passage list. From that list, click on Merge, then select the "in my heart" passage list, and choose Difference. The resulting list is all passages NOT in "my passage list", but still containing the word "heart".

Thanks Levi
Robert - if that is what you are trying to do I would stay with searches and not Passage lists.
On the left is a search that sounds similar to what you are doing, on the right is one that searches for "heart" but doesn't include the ones found in the search on the left
Is this the sort of thing you are looking for?

Yes, thank you everyone. You are correct in your assumptions of what I was saying, though I am really intrigued by the responder before you as well. I'll have to try that.
So, yes, I started out with
heart? ANDNOT (<LogosMorphGr ~ P> BEFORE 1 WORDS <LogosMorphGr ~ R??????> BEFORE 1 WORDS heart?)
it actually worked this time. I composed the same line this morning and it gave me nothing but grief. I did it in the NKJV. While that shouldn't make a difference, at least this worked.
THEN: I created a passage list and searched only that passage list with this further exclusion:
heart? ANDNOT (@R BEFORE 1 WORDS heart?)
I created another passage list, which I then referenced in a third search with this exclusion, cutting out all the definite articles:
hearts? ANDNOT (<LogosMorphGr ~ D???> BEFORE 1 WORDS heart?)
I ended up with 11 verses with results like 2 Peter 2:14 "They have a heart trained in covetous practices" (no definite article, no preposition, no pronoun)
I am grateful.
now to try the other brother's MERGE Difference method.

Awesome, yes, symmetrical difference. Totally worked. Thanks!

(<LogosMorphGr ~ P> BEFORE 1 WORDS <LogosMorphGr ~ R??????> BEFORE 1 WORDS heart?) works in a translation like ESV because of English word order (in Greek the pronoun may appear after "heart?").
So heart? ANDNOT (......) works quite well for your purposes.
