copy and paste

The web version of Logos is great. However, it would be great if it had a copy and paste option like on the desktop version where a verse is copied and when it's pasted on a word document, it will list the verse copied and the reference.

Thanks,

    Hi Anthony,

If after highlighting text, when you right click, if you click the reference instead of the selection, does that do what you expect when you copy and paste it? Or is it something different than this?

For example after selecting the reference I clicked copy and the following is pasted in from that

John 3:16–18 (ESV): 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

It does not have any rich text formatting however. (edit: the link on the verse in the post I believe is coming from reftagger, not from the contents of the copy and paste)

  • In the actual desktop version of Logos, this can be achieved. But this is not an option in the web-based version of Logos. I had to uninstall Logos from my desktop because the program was too large for my computer to run. So I had to resort to the web version which is a slightly different format. You can do a generic copy and paste but it sure would be nice if the web based version of Logos gave the same copy and paste functionality.

Do you mean that it takes up too much disk space? If so, you'll be happy to know that the current beta of Logos (Logos 8.3 beta 1) enables selective downloads of resources.

EDIT: see this thread for more information: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/178298/1030785.aspx#1030785

    From the release notes:

    • Cloud Resources
      • Added the ability to download and remove resources on demand. Resources remain listed in the Library when not downloaded, and can be opened in preview mode.
      • Added the ability to search Cloud Resources to Everything Search when online.

It looks like you have Compatibility mode enabled. Was this intended? Try going to the account menu in the upper right and see if you can disable it and try again. (edit: the original screenshot I shared was from the web app, but with compatibility mode disabled).

  • Ok, I disabled the comparability mode but I still get the same results. I want to be able to copy a verse and paste it in a word document where it will paste the text along with the passage reference.

    EX:

"There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit." (1 Cor. 12:4, NKJV)

The desktop version adds the (1 Cor. 12:4, NKJV) whereas the website versions does not automatically add the reference when copied and paste.

This is what I get when I copy that in the web app. (web app copies the verse at the front however).

1 Corinthians 12:4–5 (NKJV): 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.

After you disabled compatibility mode and reloaded the page do you have more icons on the toolbar besides the "//" one? If not then it might still be in compatibility mode, possibly because of an old browser being used.

If you do have all those icons and the context menu showed up as above, did you click the reference before copying?
If you did all that and it still isn't working, then there might be some other problem that will need deeper exploration by someone on the logos web app team, and I'll alert them to the issue.
