Still getting the "blank panel treatment" when opening commentaries.
I know that I can float them to open them, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having multi-panel panes, doesn't it?
Logs attached.

Ditto. But not just commentaries. Sometimes Bibles. And not just when initially opening them. Often, if I drag a properly working resource from one panel to another it will "go grey." It will also cause the other resources in that panel to go grey. This actually started happening in A20.
If the resources go "blank" fairly consistently could you two take logs of you opening the books that are going gray and post the logs? If this is happening with both of you we probably should look into it.
Tommy, I attached my logs!
You're right [*-)].....I uhh....I knew that. I was just testing your memory....[8-)]
Alan:
And is it safe to assume you are opening the book from the Passage Guide? If so does this happen when opening from the Library panel?
Tommy
It happens with both but there are times when it opens properly. It seems to open properly, if it "chooses" to open in the righthand pane of the layout. However, if it "chooses" to open in the lefthand pane of the layout, it almost always opens blank with just the icon visible. Of course, floating the panel always brings up the text display. Redocking the panel blanks it out again. I seldom open commentary resources from anything other than the Passage Guide, after all that's what the Passage Guide is for, isn't it? And my main use of Logos is sermon preparation. I prepare a minimum of two sermons per week, sometimes three, occasionally four (like this week). I conduct four services every Sunday and five on the fourth Sunday of the month, so I really use Logos mainly for that work.
For academic work on my doctoral research in New Testament I still use Logos 3(Libronix) as it can do graphical searches that Logos 4 Mac can't yet manage.
I appreciate your help. One day it will all work perfectly. It's good to learn by doing in the Alpha.
Every blessing
Alan
Alright. I'm going to create a bug for this. Could you bookmark this thread so that if after a few iterations it still is occurring you can post on the same thread, and I can revisit my case I've made to see where dev is with it ? #17439
Also, in reference to the second sentence in your last post. If you are opening a commentary after running a Homepage search than how is the commentary opening in the left-hand pane ever (at least from a Homepage search)? Hypothetically it should be always opening to the right of the Passage Guide and to the left of the Text Comparison and Information panels.
Thread marked. Thanks for posting the bug. FYI I seldom use the Homepage. Maybe once a week?
Passage Guide is in a floating panel in my Morning/Evening Sermon Preparation layouts, so the commentary opens where it will in the wide panel.
I never run a homepage search. Rather at the end of a sermon preparation, I move the Bible Panel in my priority text – NIV Anglicised – to next week's passage and update my layout.
Here are screenshots of my layouts, as Layout.db is too big to upload on my ADSL broadband before it times out.
Those are the layouts which I use most. I have a couple of others but I don't use them much.
Yeah, I get these, too, usually on interlinears and clause outliners, but sometimes on Greek lexicons. Started in A20 or 21.
I have that problem too. Commentaries and even Power-Lookup ect. it varies (it comes back up if I move it to a different location). It's new to A21
Blessings,
Philana Crouch
Thanks Alan (and all who have chimed in) That makes sense to me.
Tommy,
Sorry that it's taken so long to reply. I am working a second job and just haven't had time. Here's my logs. Hope this works. I haven't even opened L4 for the past several days.
Not sure what I did wrong. Trying again to attach the logs.64420.Archive.zip
