Missing Licences

Following multiple crashes each of which required a reinstall as the app would not launch following the crash I'm now missing multiple licences from resources previously downloaded. With over 4,000 books I've no practical way of identifying how many licences I'm actually missing.

I won't have any idea if the the crashes requiring reinstall are resolved until I have sufficient usage of t his latest reinstall. The crashes usually happen when downloading a resource.

What do you mean by this? Have you checked your desktop computer to see if you still have the licenses?

    over 4,000 books

Did you download all of those? If so, I hate to be the bearer of bad news... It is inadvisable to download large chunks of your library. I recommend no more than a couple hundred at most.

I only said that I have over 4,000 books. I didn't say that I had them all downloaded on my tablet. I only have a couple of hundred downloaded. The issue is that out of a couple of hundred downloaded on the tablet over 10% are coming up showing that the license is missing. By extension if I have to identify which resources have that same problem and if the 10+ % is representative of my library as a whole identifying the affected resources will be a mammoth task.

Of those affected on my tablet the resources show up in my library as downloaded but fail to open. The failure message says "resource license is missing" or something to that effect. And, yes, the resources do open on my phone and desktop.

Is this Android? I have never seen such a warning on iOS. If you are on iOS, try the command rebuild index

I'd try to get the crash issue addressed first, as the crashes might have left the app data in some inconsistent state, leading to a licensing issue.

See Report a Problem for information how to submit mobile app logs.

Licensing issues on Android have been reported a few times in the past couple of years, according to this thread:

Are you deleting the crashed app (data), before trying to reinstall the app?

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Thanks, that's very helpful. I cleared the cache but didn't delete the app data. I'll try that. I recently installed a microSD card in the device and made it the default storage. It was only after that the problems started to emerge. If clearing the data doesn't work I might just do a factory reset, make the microSD the default before re-downloading all the apps and see if that resolves the problem.

I don't believe that is officially supported, but other android users will have to chime in.

Marshmallow (Android 6) and above have this capability. For 3 years now this is operating without any difficulty or problems on my "Cloudfone Thrill Access" phone (an inexpensive Philippine brand not available internationally. Any app that can be moved to the MicroSD card will be automatically located there saving space on the phone's internal memory for those like Logos that can't.

Having the capability isn't the same as being "supported." I have no idea if your issue is related to storing your files in a non-standard location or not. Non-standard installations can be legitimate (as in your case) or illegitimate (pirated). Since the error message relates to licensing, it seems to me that it might be related.

I'm sorry, but you don't know what you are talking about in this case. We're talking about an Android facility not a LOGOS one. I suggest you actually take the time to understand this feature of Android before making comments that are not helpful, are irrelevant and upsetting. My installation is not "non-standard" as you suggest or "illegitimate". Android releases since Android 6 (Marshmallow) allow one to add a MicroSD card to your device and have it reformatted by the device so that it effectively, and to some degree, forms part of the device's internal memory. The MicroSD card is then useless for use in other devices unless reformatted again - in which case all the data is lost and pirating is not an issue. Some app developers provide for their apps to be downloaded to the MicroSD card portion of the device's memory others don't. It's not a question of legitimate or illegitimate, standard or non-standard use. It's either provided for within the app or not. The advantage on devices of limited internal memory is that apps that do provide for it can now be downloaded to the MicroSD card part of the memory freeing up space on the built-in memory to keep the device from slowing and misperforming as a result of being clogged up with apps and bloatware. As the Logos apps don't have that facility they will always download to the built-in portion of the memory and that's where my version is. But even if it downloaded to the MicroSD portion it would not be non-standard or illegitimate as the card is effectively an extension of the device's memory. I hope this clears up the matter for you.

I cleared the cache and the app data and reinstalled. All the licenses are present and correct. The crashes all occurred during downloads. I've re-downloaded over 200 resources without a crash so it seems to have resolved that issue too. Thanks for your assistance.
