Factbook opens last search by default and takes forever to do it, with no option to cancel

I hadn't used Factbook for quite a while but decided to open it just now. It opened up by default to whatever my last search in it had been (months ago, before L8 shipped), and it took 20 or 30 seconds to populate, during which time there was no way I could cancel it, even after I'd already typed in what I wanted to search and hit Enter. I just had to wait. Very frustrating.
Is there any way to bypass this old lookup?
If not, could I make a suggestion that it would be best to open it fresh each time, or at least give the user the option of whether they want to re-run the previous search or not? Or an option to cancel it immediately if they don't?
