Sluggish Performance Ipad
Is anyone else having trouble with the Logos IOS app performing sluggishly? It is slow to respond when I choose a passage or swipe a page. Almost useless to use when teaching or preaching because it responds so slowly. It is the ONLY app that i have on my iPad that responds in this way. I have installed and reinstalled multiple times. It does not matter whether the source is downloaded or not. Any advice?
Thanks,
David Webb

Hi David,
Welcome to the forums. I'm sorry the performance of the mobile app isn't up to par on your iPad. I have a 2018 iPad Pro 11 and for me the app works very well. I don't have the sluggishness you describe. I also have the newest hardware, so that may explain my experience. Others will chime in and hopefully a dev will stop by and see your post. What year and version of iPad do you have?

I have an Ipad Air running IOS 12.1.3.

The iPad Air was released in November, 2013. It is more than 5 years old. Perhaps the issues have to do in part to outdated hardware.

More than age I would suspect that it is connectivity. Even on a fast network using resources not downloaded often times is slower than acceptable. Please trying downloading your main Bible and any books you use a lot on your iPad. It is not advised to have your full library installed. But if I could I would but we are told for stability sake not to do this but I do have just over 2000 resources installed on my iPad and have no issues.

First, I'd compare on-line vs off-line, before anything else. FL's server.
Next, age per se, isn't likely the issue. My mini is on Medicare, and snappy with Noet. But that's the older app. The newer cutsie one?
But for apps that have received limited updates thru the years, I'd say maybe 30-40% slower (heavy ones like 3D mapping, heavy graphics). Battery-throttling, my guess; not the software.

Perhaps it is age. I don't think it is a connectivity issue because it doesn't matter whether the resource is downloadable or not. It doesn't seem to be sluggish on my iPhone. No other app is sluggish on the ipad but maybe Logos just requires better hardware. The app is useable at home when getting to a verse or note quickly is not an issue. When teaching or preaching, however, I don't like having to several seconds for it to respond when switching verses, etc. Thanks for your help.

The nuclear option would be to wipe and reformat the device. Only do that if you are bored and it really bothers you.
Actually, I forgot about that ... not the nuclear option, but a hard restart. Every now and then the iPad seems bewildered. Delays for no reason. A hard restart reminds him he supposed to be snappy. I don't keep any backgrounded apps and certainly not the badboys on the block ... Facebook and Google, but who knows.

a hard restart.
I forgot about it too, and it is a good idea. Much less explosive. [:)]
When I was more actively beta testing mobile, the installation would frequently become corrupt and I would need to delete the app... but sometimes I had to wipe the device itself.
