Note Icons

A few things that would make notes and note icons better. None of these are big issues (issues like getting hyperlinks automated on Windows would be much more important) but here are a few issues starting with the least important and moving to the more important.

1. When you append a note with an icon to a Bible verse and that verse happens to come just after a non-Bible text heading, the note icon appears in front of the non-Bible text instead of in front of the verse number. Example:

This makes it appear as though the note is for the entire section covered by the heading and it looks a bit ridiculous if you have non-Bible text turned off:

This has been an issue in Logos since forever, but it would be nice if this were fixed.

2. Allow us to create our own icons.

3. Allow us some presets to resize the icons so that they aren't as obtrusive (or are more obtrusive if you prefer).

    2. Allow us to create our own icons.

This is possible by using the "add a new style" command in the highlighting tool.

I think there haven been step-by-step explanations on how to do it in the forums (probably a number of years back).

  • Yes, I'm aware of the ability to create new highlights, but note icons are something different, right? I can have a note attached to a verse with an icon without having a highlight.

See here is the menu I'm thinking of: on the one hand you have options for note icons and these are separate from the option for highlights (the "A" underlined in blue):

Yes, they are something different. But you can use highlights to emulate this:

The green dot with 1 in it is a custom highlight style I gave to a note that is anchored to Lk 2:5 (i.e. it appears in all bibles before that verse, just like the note icon does before verse 4).

This would be a workaround - the only drawback is that the note icons display note text on mouse-over, the "highlight icons" don't.
