When typing "update now" in the command bar, and now update is found,
a small window opens at the lower right indicating that no update is available.

For one, this window is bigger than it needs to be because it says the same thing twice:

Worse though: Unless closed manually (a move of the mouse to the other end of the screen), it blocks the view on my home screen in that corner.

I would like to suggest, to put this window on timeout so that it disappears after a few seconds (more like a notification lay-over).
Or perhaps even better: Get rid of this window, and post the notification in the yellow notification bar that comes and goes with actual update information. I would think that's the natural place to notify of all under-the-hood changes.

This would not work for me as I often go off and do other things while the request is processed ... it can be anything from a minute to an hour before I check back.
