Problem with resource prioritizing

Backstory:

I've been using Logos since Libronix days. My laptop is Win 10.  I have Logos 8.

Problem:

I notice that when I do a search, say in my sermon illustration tag, the resources I have prioritized in my library do not populate the search result in the order in which I've prioritized those resources. There are 3 headings at the top of a search result dialogue box: ranked, by resource, count. No matter which heading I click on the order is not the order in which I prioritized those resources in my library.

Is this a bug?

Hi J. Kane - and welcome to the forums

No, this isn’t a bug. Searching doesn’t take note of prioritisation but instead allows you to view results from the different perspectives  you have seen.

Prioritisation is used to determine, among other things, the order resources are presented in Guides and where they appear in context menus.

    No

[quote]The section has several different views:

    • Articles — displays a compact list of matching article and resource titles.
    • Ranked — matches the article titles with brief contextual information and number of search hits. Items are ranked according to relevance.
    • By Resource — displays matching resources in a two-level list where the top level shows matching resources listed alphabetically by title, and the second level (accessed by clicking the resource title to expand its results) shows the results in each resource. The top level also shows the number of results found and the number of articles containing those results.
    • By Count — displays the same information as By Resourcebut resources are listed from the greatest number of hits to the least.

    Welcome J. Kane

It's not a bug because Prioritization is not used to determine the order of Search results. See this thread for an explanation of Ranked. "By count" will order the results according to their number/count in the resource, whilst "By resource" orders results by the resource title.

Prioritization is used when Logos offers a selection of books in/from a Guide, some Tools, or the Context menu (when you right-click a word in a resource). It also determines the resource that is opened when you double-click a word e.g. double-clicking the word "refuge" will open your preferred dictionary, which could be an English dictionary (for a definition) or a bible dictionary (for an article about a biblical "refuge"). If you right-click the word, the Context menu will show the top five dictionaries that you prioritized, and you can select which one to open. A Topic Guide will present dictionary resources in the order of your prioritization.  See this wiki article for more information, and feel free to ask if you have more questions.
