Stopping Highlighting from Creating a Note
Hi, just a quick question. Is there any way to stop a note from being created when highlighting. It would be great if there was a toggle so that this feature could be turned on or off. Sometimes the ability to create a note by highlighting is useful. However, I also like to use highlighting for marking during inductive bible study. With highlighting working as it currently does in L8, every time I mark a pronoun or a time reference, etc., it creates a new note. I have thousands of highlights that were carried over from L7 that now have become empty notes. Any suggestions?

Hi Gary - and welcome to the forums
Highlights have been special types of notes for a long time - this isn't new to Logos 8
What Logos 8 provides is the ability to distinguish between notes and highlights.
What specific issue are you seeing?

Something like that. As Graham explained, highlights technically are notes for a long time (sometimes used to be kept in note files named after the highlighting palette, so maybe this kept them away from your awareness). Now you see them in the Notes tool. But you have the filter facets, thus as Graham wrote:

The topmost filter facet in the Notes tool is type - and here you can opt to not see highlights, just notes.

Hi, Thanks for the replies. I'm grateful for the responses. I did actually did know that the highlighting was part of the old system. I was just hoping for some way not to create highlighting notes. I know that most likely it's the case that since everything uploads and syncs, that the highlights need to reside somewhere in the system. Within the notes seems the most natural. Guess I will just have to filter differently. Thanks again for your responses and suggestions. Truly appreciate them.
