I drag a Pages document from my desktop or even from Finder to my bookmarks. Though it populates in the Bookmarks, clicking on it or hitting Cmd-1 doesn't open it. Log file attached. Thanks.
I can't speak for Pages, but it works for MS Word (.docx).
