Italian Bible
Dear Faithlife,
Is there any possibility that you may prepare for us a modern version of the Italian Bible (at least CEI 2008 or La Bibbia di Gerusalemme)? As you know, at logos.com, we have only Giovanni Diodati's translation from 1649. From time to time on this forum, as customers, we have expressed our desire to have a modern one translation and there is no response from you. There was a voice of Fr. Marco here: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/177645.aspx and before, a year and two years ago, some voices under Diodati's Bible here: https://www.logos.com/product/1830/giovanni-diodati-bibbia - every single time without any comment from you guys. Considering that Accordance has published the CEI 2008 Bible (for free) we would appreciate having it into Logos platform, also if we have to pay for it, of course. Any perspectives?
In my opinion, you should consider that, what has written Fr. Marco in his last post. If there were available a few resources in Italian, especially a modern, Italian, translation of the Bible, you would gain new clients.

Thanks for reaching out and for the suggestion of the Italian Bible. I do have some good news for you! We are engaging Italian Bishops to license the Bible and hope we can wrap up the licensing agreement sooner rather than later.

Any progress regarding the Italian Bible? Anything?
I do believe that Logos should reconsider the aperture to the Italian market.
Briefly, I will permit myself to suggest to you why.
First of all is that there no recent Italian translation on the Logos platform. *(as I have written before)
Secondly, you have here many students at Universities *(especially Pontifical Universities in Rome!) that surely they would be interested in having a recent Italian Bible for their researches. The Diodati Bible in Verbum 8 Biblicum Standard makes me laugh, seriously a Bible from 1649 for Biblicum students? The older ones are only two: The Luther Bible 1545 *(which is ok because it is Luther's Bible and there is another recent German translation) and the Czech Bible from 1579 *(the same thing, there is a translation from 2009 ).
Thirdly as the most important part, is a fact that it would help in our pastoral ministry! Dear Logos! Consider, for example, that brothers and sisters from the Necoatecumenal Way, they would eagerly use your software if they would have access to La Bibbia di Gerusalemme *(The New Jerusalem Bible) with cross-references and notes and to the Dizionario di Teologia Biblica (Dictionary of Biblical Theology) of Xavier Leon-Doufur.
Two simple things which would help in our bible study, preparation of variety of catechesis, celebrations and many more.
For the record - of course I'm aware that we are struggling from many years to have The Jerusalem Bible Study Edition in english on Logos platform and I'm asking for the Italian translation. Nevertheless I would like to ask you to do something about new, recent translations of the Bibles and possibly add those that are missing and which appear in a competitive platform that recently published the 13th edition of their software.
What is more, all that would help in the popularization of Bible study among the youths! "Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ" - as Saint Jerome wrote in his Commentary on Isaiah.Respectfully,

Actually, this resource is mis-labeled, and far from being that old (and for that reason has not been sold for some time now...)
Edit: Apparently it has made it back via the Brazilian Bible Society. Not sure whether this was supposed to happen...

Actually, it would be nice to have. The problem is however more "political" so to say and with reasons in my opinion. in the USA and within the evangelical world there is a spread of DIY bible studies and so personal interpretations, which is without control. Personally, I uploaded a doc file of the CEI 2008 into verbum and use the NABRE version for studying (at a personal level). I don't try to interpret anything but simply deepen my knowledge for instance of the historical situation and perhaps the path of thoughts of the apostolic and patristic tradition. It's way more than enough for me. As for more serious theological studies, how could I do it without proper philosophical, theological and tomistic preparation, not to mention a good command of Latin, Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic?

I know it would be nice to have on Logos, but there are a few sites that carry both the older edition and the 2008 CEI online for free. There are also sites that have the Nuova Riveduta, Nuovissima, Martini and TILC. The Diodati is the classic, though it is a shame that Logos only has the one that was edited throughout the years and not his original text (they are pretty similar, but there are some important differences).

Do we have an update on this? It would be great to have the Italian CEI 2008 version with reverse interlinear, as well as the Spanish CEE version with reverse interlinear too. These are the official translations used in the liturgy of Italy and Spain, therefore a must for seminarians, priests and scholars from these European countries.

The product page seems to be lacking the appropriate tagging for the website to be able to filter on those facets. The (1) under the Bible facet is for the Portuguese bible collection, same with the Portuguese facet. Notice there is no Italian facet.

Apologies, we must have missed that when we created the PDP, so I just added a couple right now, which should make it easier to find.
Regarding the CEE, we are in active conversations with the Spanish Bishops' Conference, and while we aren't ready to make any promises, we are hopeful and I'll let the team keep you updated on any progress.
