Logos 8 bug: quick start topical card
Been using Logos since Libronix days.
I tried out using the quick start cards on home page. Yesterday the topic card listed preferred Bible and preferred dictionary on card.
When you click card it opened the preferred Bible and the Bible dictionary and fact book.
Now, all of a sudden, the Reformed study Bible notes replaced replaced the Bible dictionary. Can't get back original layout. Can we change the preferred resources for the topical card and other cards?
Thanks.

The resource used is the highest prioritised resource that has an entry for the topic you are studying.
Are you looking up a different topic than the one you were studying yesterday?
If so, try yesterday's topic and see what resource you get.

Thanks for response.
This doesn't make sense. The card has 2 resources picked by default shown. I first looked at Barnabas following the tutorial. Then I tried "justification."
Then I was trying to study attributes of God. At some point it switched from Lexham Bible dictionary to Reformed study Bible notes (RSBN which I don't even have prioritized) and there it has stayed.
I tried going back to Barnabas and it still stays RSBN. I also tried using Lexham BIble dict a few times in that card and when I close and come back it opens to RSBN

The topic study assumes that the resources are prioritized. If the user has not prioritized the resources, the application defaults to a FL prioritization. When you enter a topic, the system first looks for an article on that topic in the highest priority resource; if there is one, it is shown; if there is not one, it looks for an article on the topic in the second highest priority resource .... etc. So what you report sounds perfectly normal. Because I own different resources and probably have them prioritized differently from you, I can't run tests to show you how it plays out in your application.

Thanks for the response.
I have my resources prioritized.... hundreds of them. My library has 5,000 books.
In the prioritization window at the top of the list of my dictionaries is the Lexham because that's the one Morris likes and I'm working my way through the videos.
Just to be clear: I am not referring to the topical guide in the guide section. I'm referring to the quick start layout card that's new to ver. 8.

When you use Factbook to lookup "Being and Attributes of God" what is the top dictionary returned in the Dictionaries section
This will show which is your highest prioritised resource with an article on that concept and will affect what dictionary is opened when you next use the card.

I have previously noticed some irregularity in the choice of bible dictionary. But when I tested it a few minutes ago, my prioritized dictionary was always shown (I would change the Prioritizatio and then checked the Quickstart Layout card for Topic Study).

The Lexham Dictionary
That surprise me as the LBD doesn't have an article on the attributes of God
Please post a complete screenshot showing the Factbook tool and the LBD open to the associated article.

Sorry. Maybe I haven't been clear enough.
I'm not talking about the fact book. Dave asked about that and I responded.
I'm talking about a possible bug in the "Quick Start Layout Topic Guide" new to Logos 8.
When I first started using it the Lexham Dictionary was shown along with NASB. Now it's Reformation Study notes which isn't even priortized in my library in the dictionary section.

Problem seems to be solved for the moment.
I removed Reformed notes from prioritization list and the Lexham Dictionary is back on the card.
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for all the help!!

My apologies for talking past you. What none of us explicitly stated was that prioritization and "last opened" are rules that work throughout the system. We may ask to see (or may choose to show you) a part of the system that is not where you are seeing the problem but where the cause of the problem may be shown most clearly.
I'm glad you've got it sorted out.
