Personal Books need to be rebuilt after upgrading to Logos 8

When I updated to Logos 8, I was surprised to find that my personal books were no longer available. I have to rebuild each book. Is this expected behavior?

    I haven’t found this.

Was this on the same computer as you were using before?

So, I did just switch to a new computer and cannot find where to do the personal books on Logos 8? It's been a long time since I created them, so I cannot remember how, but cannot find it at all. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    It's under the Tools menu

If you had uploaded them they will download automatically. Otherwise, you will need to rebuild them from the source files - or scan them in from a backup

Same computer. After I ordered the update, I issued the update now command.

To be fair, I had not used the personal books in a while. Also I am beta testing and they may have disappeared sometime in the many updates in version 7. But I used to be able to find them in my library on this computer.

I don't have so many that it is a big deal for me, although I have to track down one of the Word docs. But I wondered if others encountered this.

Mine are all working as expected following upgrade.

I did. A quick & dirty fix was available, a global edit of all paragraph marks to include a space before the paragraph mark.

(In Word, it's replacing "^p" with " ^p", excluding my quotes.)

Apparently, the initial version of book builder (Tools | Utilities | Personal Books) didn't handle an empty section well. The above fix worked on all mine that wouldn't compile.

A later version allegedly fixed the problem, but I'd already rebuilt all my books.

    Blessings!

    Grace & Peace,

Like any other resource, they won't disappear when you update or upgrade the app on the same computer. But if you install Logos on a new computer, you will lose PB's that weren't Uploaded in the PB tool (you have to Build them again). In a similar fashion, you can also lose books when you delete them in the Personal Books tool.

I don't have so many that it is a big deal for me, although I have to track down one of the Word docs.

The source docx files are the ones that could disappear, because you have to store/maintain them outside Logos; usually in the Documents folder on Windows computers, or on a Cloud drive.
