Exapnd/Collapse - One Step Further Suggestions

I love the expand and collapse on the Search and agree with others that it needs to be included in other areas. BUT, could we maybe take this one step further and group it by types of resources in addition to individual resources. For instance, right now, we have the ability to group by book. I suggest that we have the ability to group be types of resources at the same time so that we see all the books/resources nested in commentaries, dictionaries, etc.

Which would make an "X" next to the books great for reducing the list to something more manageable.

I thought of this and I would agree. However I would still love to see searches saved and editable. If I could delete the irrelevant items from a search and then save it so that I could pick up where I left off later, that would be a big thing to me. Of course the better option may be to simply provide exporting functionality which, as i recall, may be in 4.0e :-)

That would be the easiest solution, not the 'best'! [:)]

The best solution (from my perspective at least!) would be to have something like the analysis view in basic search. The columns could be the ones shown in the library (author, title, publisher, type, etc.).

I could then drag those column headings to the top to group (and sub-group) by title/type/author/whatever. That would be very powerful.

Yes, I agree with that. Sometimes in academic study I'll need to wade through all the search results for a particular query to see which are relevant. At the moment I have to add the relevant ones to a clipping document as I go, but it would be much quicker if I could just delete the irrelevant ones and save what's left (perhaps as a clippings document?).

Even if it's just that there are columns for Author, Type, etc., and we could click on them to sort the results by that field, that would be very helpful.

Be nice if we could slice/dice/cut/sort the list of search hits, just as we can with resources in the Library Panel.

And then, of course, expand any that take our interest.

(And of course, with the issues of search-rerun and screen redrawn addressed, as documented elsewhere in the last 2 days)

You'll be happy to know that Sean Boisen posted on another thread that "We're working on better ways to organize search results that should give users more ability to select, filter, and sort."

Thanks Rosie, yes, happy to know that. Logos are adding some nice improvements and power to searches etc. Nice!

Thanks also to Logos, Sean, and all the team(s) of course.

I love that I can search for stuff from over 1,000 books and get answers in just a few seconds.

(For the record Logos, I expect many of us would be happy to trade more RAM and disk storage, for increased performance [just as the current Main and Bible indexes do]. Just make it an option on how much it can take, and pre-process as much as needed to make good stuff happen!!!)
