This is an often asked question and here’s my answer, using Chinese packages as an example:
- add https://www.logos.com/product/166277/zhong-wen-tong-ban-chinese-bronze to cart, shown as USD 379.99 for new users
- add https://tc.logos.com/products/166283/logos-8-zhong-wen-quan-gong-neng-ji-logos-8-chinese-full-feature-set to cart, shown as USD 529.99 for new users
- now the first item is shown as USD 150.00 for new users
This trick is completely legit (i.e. we are not ripping Logos off), which relies on the fact that when you add a dataset, it removes the one comes with the base package as a “dynamic pricing” kind of adjustment.
So even if you don’t have a button in logos.com in your language to choose only the volumes without the datasets, you can trigger this behavior if you want to.
Limitation: if the base package you add already includes the dataset you add, then it’ll just remove the later, but not the dataset within the base package. So the sweet spot for this trick to work is the Bronze library.
