Copying Portions of a Verse

Is there a way to copy only a portion of a verse and then pastie it with the verse location at the beginning or at the end of the quote? I.e., if I just want to copy the first few words of a verse, such as "For God so loved the world" (John 3.16) how do you do that?

I know how to copy the entire verse with "Copy Bible Verses" but that gets whole verse not a portion of it.

I don’t know if there is a way to do exactly what you want in one move. I’m not near my computer to check. For clarification: is this a desktop or mobile question? This thread may be moved to the platform specific forum.

When I want to do this, I simply select the phrase and use the keyboard shortcuts for “copy” and “paste.” I don’t think the reference gets copied too, except possibly in the footnote.

I am working with a MacBook Air. I've used the standard copy and paste routine. Was wondering though if there was a shortcut which would add the Scripture reference. Thanks for your response.
