I did highlights and underlines to certain verses. Am I able to remove them?

Yes, but your answer will depend upon which platform & software you are using. Is this L7/L8 on desktop (Mac or Windows) or the mobile device (iOS/Android)?
It is L8 on mobile iOS.
Try tapping the highlight and then the trash button at the left of the popup
Thanks ! I tried. Some can be removed. But some can not. The highlights just did not appear when tap them.
Again, there verses come from my reading plan, which have marked as being read. Those which have not been marked as read can be highlighted and removed.

Just now I tried it again. This time works well. I guess it was caused by unstable WIFI connection or other unknown reasons. Thank you so much !
I have noticed a bug in the iOS app where sometimes the highlighting doesn't function right (either removing highlights or adding highlights). Usually (every time for me) if you just restart the app (cf. How to force quit an app) it will work.
Edit: If you're talking about something related to the "Start Reading" and "Mark as Read" indicators within the text--these are generated by the reading plan and will only disappear as you progress in your reading or if you delete your reading plan.
I think it makes sense to me. Now I can delete the highlights because I restarted the app. Before I restarted it, the verses that have been highlighted were "Marked as Read" and there is no way to remove the highlights until I restarted the app. Thanks !
