Does anyone have any suggestions for software that would enable me to catalog my ministry library? I'm looking for something that's not too complex or expensive. Maybe even online software? Thanks.
Hi Michael.
You might want to check out LibraryThing at http://www.librarything.com . It is an online solution. I'm not sure what their model is now, but it used to be you could create an account for free and catalog up to 200 books. From there, it was either $10 for one year, or a lifetime membership for $25. This may have changed, I can't find any info about cost on the site (but don't know what comes up when you create a new account).
Others on the forum have mentioned other solutions, but I've used LibraryThing in the past and found it to meet my needs.
I use and find very helpful Zotero (www.zotero.org) for keeping track of my print and electronic resources. Logos has export to BibTex format now (configured under Options) and then available from the drop down in Collections. I do a collection which includes all my resources, then export in BibTex, import to Zotero, and instantly have all my Logos resources listed so I can see what I do/don't have.
Zotero is a Firefox plugin, so if you don't use/like Firefox, that might be a drawback.
For Mac I have heard very good things about Delicious Library. A PC sort of equivalent is Mediaman

Is this available in Logos 4? If so, can someone help me identify the location of the option?

I don't have Logos4 installed on my current system, but it has to do with changing your bibliography export config under Settings (I changed mine to Bibtex so it was importable into Zotero), then go to Collections, make a collection encompassing the resources you want to export, then click the drop down on the left and choose "bibliography" to generate the file. Those are the approximate steps. I'll confirm later if someone else hasn't already.
As a small bible college, we needed to be able to catalog our llibrary and after much search, we found this wonderful program. The beauty of this application is that you type in the ISBN of the book and it performs a search of the Internet and retrieves the data. Many times it also brings back a Dewey Decimal number from one of the libraries it searches. Cost is $40 and I have received several updates since Iwe purchased the application. It has all the capabilities of a normal library system, checking out and in books, catalog lookup, etc. It is a great program and I just need to get the book from LOGOS into the catalog.
