When I was using L3 there were a number of collections, workspaces, etc that users could share and others utilize. With L4 we do not have the same type of capability. Basically we could take advantage of other users knowledge and labor if they were willing to share.
Many users have posted range of questions and ideas pertaining to these types of issues and forum users respond with their suggestions and solutions. We end up with many of the same things being posted over and over again; the same screen shots, etc.
I was thinking it might be a good idea to form a finite group of forum users who can collaborate and develop workflow ideas, layouts, study methods with the L4 features and resources etc. Maybe we could get Logos to give us a new forum (similar to what we have for files, suggestions, etc.) where the results of this collaboration could be posted and people could submit ideas, suggestions, and questions.
I was thinking this may be a way to share ideas and solutions for users in a more structured and organized way rather than flooding the threads with the same information over and over again.
Hypotheitcal Benefits examples:
A new user to L4 might wonder how he or she can do an effective word study. They could go to the WDG forum and find layouts for word study, a list of resources that are suggested, and a suggested process for doing an effective study.
A new user is trying to build collections, but has no idea where to start. He or she goes to the WDG forum and finds instructions for building collections, a list of siggected collection categories, and search strings that can be copied and pasted.
As I am typing this I realize that some of what I'm saying sounds a lot like the Wiki. I think the difference between the two is that this would be a deliberate and organized collaborative effort with a finite group of people (I'm a Southern Baptist and we love commitees) pooling both knowledge of the software and experience in bible study, teaching, etc.
I would be interested in hearing from others. Is this a good idea, waste of time, or ???
