Canvas - random words and editing objects

Hi,

This is my first outing with canvas and it's not looking great at the moment.

I imported a bible text and found that it appears as an image, not as an interactive/highlight-able text, so canvas is less helpful than microsoft office in this respect.

Random words appeared behind/within the imported text - see "signs," and "Do" in the attached image. They move with the bible text and are not selectable.

I added some highlights and linked objects. When a highlight shape is stretched to encircle more text I want the area to get bigger, but the lines also get fatter, obscuring the words that I want to highlight.

I wanted to edit the highlight ring over "because you ate" (see attached image) but it seems impossible to select it - either an individual word or the whole imported text is selected, wherever I click.

Text boxes - they don't re-size dynamically making it a very tedious process - this is currently less productive than using a sheet of paper and a pen, seriously -  I see that this issue is covered in other posts.

I want this to work - please tell me I'm doing something wrong.

I can now replicate the 'random words' problem, see below.

Step 1: starting to add highlight to a text

Step 2: add a highlight to the next line - the word 'Moses' moves to the line below, overlapping with existing text

Step 3: finish highlighting the line. The text flows back to fill the space left vacant by the word 'Moses'. The text is now incorrect.

    Mysterious!
