Note Document Missing from Filter

I love the new sort by "Reference" feature in the notes tool. However I've observed that notes with multiple anchors do not show up. For instance, in the screenshot below, you'll notice that when I sort by reference, the note on Mark 14:19 and Mark 14:21 appear one under the other. However, I opened another note document on the right and you'll see that it is anchored to Mark 14:20. How can I get that note to show up on the left column with the rest of the notes?

We're working on a solution to this, but it's surprisingly difficult to solve. And there are a number of scenarios to consider.

We should be able to solve the scenario above, where a note is missing from the list because the intersecting anchor isn't the first anchor.

But if a note is anchored to Mark 14:20 and Mark 14:21, would you want to see the same note twice in a row? That would be difficult to do. We're not planning to support that.

If you were sorting all your Bible notes, the note pictured above would only show up once in the list, but if you filter down to any of the containing books, you'd see the note in that list.

I think this may show up in 8.4 on April 15, but I'm not positive.

Not necessarily, but how many intervening verses would there be before a note would reappear? In other words, if a note was anchored to Mark 14:20 and Mark 14:40 would it show up twice?

I think we're currently planning for it to show up in the list only once (i.e., at the point of the first anchor). If you want to see it show up for any other anchors, you'd need to filter down so the anchors above it are excluded from the query.

I understand that the data structure makes a big difference in what you are able to do easily, if at all. I'm hoping that you built a relational database that will allow what I'm looking for.

Please register my heartfelt disappointment. I would very much like to see every anchor of every Note.

As a fall-back, will anchors other than the first one be considered when filtering Notes by reference? In other words, all twelve toledot verses are anchored to a single note in my Genesis Notebook. If I'm looking at Ruth 4:18, the green-star Note icon appears in the text, but filtering by Bible Book: Ruth and displaying by reference does not include this Note in the list of Notes.

3. The list of Notes shows three of the four Notes that appear in the text above, but excludes the Note from Genesis that has Ruth 4:18 among its anchors.

I agree with Jack. If I went to the trouble to make two anchors rather than one that spanned both verses, it is because that is precisely what I mean and want to see. Two anchors implies that the note applies twice to two separate cases that just happen to be adjacent; one anchor implies that the note applies one to a text that happens to cross a verse "boundary".

Phil, I noticed that this was resolved. Thanks for working on it.

With some of the feedback on this thread since the initial question, have you reconsidered supporting this option? It would be tremendously helpful to every anchor show up every time.

As a follow-up to my previous post, here's a great example of the benefit of showing every note in the notes list.

I'm currently studying the book of Genesis, and I'm making notes on every instance of "these are the generations of" (as you can see by the anchored passages above). Obviously, I want the fruit of this study to show up in the notes view so that as I preach each passage, I'll see the notes that I made previously. However, it is currently structured so that only Genesis 2:4 will show up (when the notes are filtered by the book of Genesis in reference order). Having this notes document show up each time would be very beneficial.
