Problems with searches

I just noticed a problem today when doing searches in L4. Sometimes they find the correct word I am searching for and sometimes not. Below is an example. I noticed this problem first when I was searching for "friend" in the NIV. All I got was nonsense like below. I got the same problem in the NRSV also, but when I did the search in the KJV it worked fine. I'm not even sure where to start on this one.

I am using a Vista computer and have 4.0 c installed on it.

Ronald I am unable to repeat this. Have you finished indexing? Try closing the software and reopening it.

L4 is done indexing. i shut my computer down and turned it back on again, opened L4 and got the same results.

In searching "friends" I had problems with the NRSV, NASB, NIV, ESV and NLT. I got the correct results with ASV, KJV, CEV, RSV, NCV and Darby.

I would try rebuilding the bible index to see if that fixes it--enter "rebuild bible index", then wait until it finishes.

If not then I'm at a loss.

I contacted customer support today and they had me delete my index files in two different folders. After opening up L4, it began indexing and once completed everything was fine. Thanks for the help.

what folders were those? was it just bible index and the general index?

Thanks for the feedback Ronald. It was definitely an index problem as you also had the wrong number of results. Your search should return 295/263 (all options unticked) or 309/271 (matching all word forms).

It was the main Library index and the Bible Index. But you should just use rebuild index as it will remove the index files and rebuild both indexes.
