What would you like to see in March Madness 2020?
I thought it would be interesting to see what others would like to see in 2020.
Here is what I would like to see:
1. A classic commentary collection bracket - with updated collections combining the original collections with their upgrade collection.
For example, these two collections combined into one.

For them to actually call it March Madness and not this nonsense from this year.
And maybe, if possible, a Base Package bracket wth dynamic pricing. Or do a Commentary set bracket like 2018.

For Logosians with big libraries MM and other promos are becoming less and less of a draw. Here's a suggestion why not use information from Wishlists to select resources to use as entries for discounts. A Battle of the Wishlists. As a way of encouraging better representation from those of us with larger libraries, say 10,000 resources or more, I say select the most wishlisted resources from this group of customers.
I'm sure there are some other ideas out there for ways of including better deals for loyal long-term customers like me.

I would love to see a format like this. Have 8 from the same tradition go head to head, and then have them go against another tradition in the semi finals. That way, each tradition would have at least one author get higher in the tournament. I did not intentionally omit SDA; I just wanted to present a concept that could be worked to insure all traditions getting further along in the tournament.

I would suggest setting up brackets to vote for the most popular Pre-Pubs that are past 50% complete but still gathering interest. Never mind the discount, but for the first round of elimination, artificially push those ones say 20% farther along towards completion; for the second round, push them 40% of the remaining distance, etc., until the winner gets fast-tracked into production right now.
That would probably be yawn-worthy for most Logosians. But there is nothing else that exists in the Logos catalog that I still want, so Pre-Pubs are the only hope for attracting my attention.

I had a few ideas.
1) Battle of the Publishers: This tournament would pit the most popular books from publishers against each other. This could be a good benefit to publishers to see what people think of their books and why it is popular as well as see what people think about other works from other publishers.
2) Battle of the Authors: This could include bundles of the most popular authors in logos. This could mean author bundles that cross publishers which might be harder. To make Author bundles more exciting. If you purchase one of the discounted bundles you get it an additional 5% off the full bundle of books. Or the regular discount for the individual books. This could be exciting to get readers to find new authors.

Very similar to what I was thinking.
I was not sure how to work discounts for the "Non-Winners".Maybe instead of forgetting the discounts, do offer them "IF" they are pre-purchased. This way LOGOS actually has their money up front.

For me the most important thing is being able to buy individual books. This is where the original concept this year would have generated zero spend from me, but the revised concept resulted in my biggest monthly spend for quite some time.

I think we need to go back to the authors every few years or so. It is good to have some variety, but something new and different every year, in my mind, is not good for Logos business. Two years of different. Time to go back to the standard. You have to remember that the vast majority of Logos users are not on the forums and many new users come all the time. I hear tales of when D. A. Carson was the king of March Madness year after year, but I never really got to experience it. I never got those deals because I am a relatively new user. If Logos went back to that next year, I am sure there would be a lot of complaining here on the forums, but I would welcome it.
Now I feel like I am stuck with Logos coming up with creative ideas that, while not necessarily bad, have not really worked for me. When Logos gets creative, I find that I am usually out. This was the first year I bought nothing in March Madness because there was nothing interesting that I didn't already have. If they had done authors, I am sure I would have bought some things. I would love to see the numbers to know how successful each year was comparatively. I also agree that individual books is a must. Collections are just too expensive unless you have a good chunk taken out with dynamic pricing.
I am sure I am in the minority on the forums, but just my two cents.

Harder to do but could be really interesting: offer a competition based on wishlists. The more wishlisted, the deeper the discount. Users "vote" by adding to their wishlist what the wish the most. No predetermined categories.
Not sure whether this is feasible, but it would certainly be useful.

It wouldn’t be fun to have a March madness if one already knows the result. I think they need to have something that’s interesting enough that the winner isn’t all that obvious.
And it seems that the March madness discount isn’t as steep as it once was, I think in the past the winner is 75%?

I'm thankful that Logos is offering the Author bundles as a follow-up to the March Matchups.
I'm wondering if Logos might be able to connect the votes with sales somehow. I love D.A. Carson and often voted out of my affinity for him as a theologian rather than my likelihood to buy additional resources that he authored (because we never knew what resources would be included until after the decisions). Perhaps there is some way Faithlife could leverage votes as potential sales such as Each Logos account is given X number of "discount dollars", Users assign their discount dollars to products in a bracket (perhaps with a "write-in" option for a wishlist item (similar to uservoice where a user can cast up to 3 votes for an idea), the more discount dollars an item gets across the board, the deeper the discount on a bundle of other resources by that author.
If a D.A. Carson resources would generate the most sales for Faithlife and satisfy the purchasing desires of the User base, so be it.

No thanks! Reminds me of that black Friday when “the most popular” went on sale. And who was included in the list? The Bible knowledge commentary! I think I’ll pass. Besides I don’t think people are interested in my wish list anymore than I’ll be interested in theirs.

You might be right. But, here's a turn on the idea. What if we chose one or two of our most desired Wishlisted titles and entered them into a scrum where the titles that got the most votes got to compete in MM. Example, I choose Zuck's A Biblical Theology of the Old and New Testaments if it gets enough votes in the preliminary voting it becomes one of the titles to take part in the 2020 MM. Just a thought.

I'm glad to see that the wishlist idea has received some positive feedback. The thing I like the best about the wishlist idea is that it allows all types of resources (dictionaries, commentaries, bundles, collections, monographs, etc.) and price points. What DAL said seemed concerning at first, but unlike the Black Friday sale we would be voting.
I guess what I really want to see is a March Madness sale that allows me to purchase books I wouldn't otherwise purchase because I think the price is too high.
