One More Bug: not holding default font size
Okay, this latest update did a lot of great stuff that improved Notes greatly...way to go!
Still have an issue with font size...
I have set my default font size for 12.
So my very first note keeps that size...but the very next note goes back to 11.
Any other text I copy and paste from another document into a note that I make automatically defaults to 11; so I have to go back and resize everything back to 12.
So is it me? (I'm running MacOS 10.14.4). Is anyone else having this issue?

Chris, I can't reproduce this issue. Is it still happening for you?

Happens every time I open Logos...the first note keeps a 12 point, which I set as the default. The very next note then offers 11 point...and every other one thereafter.

It is happening for me. I set default to 10pt, but the Notes tool insists on setting the font at 11pt. Mac OS 10.14.4 Logos 8.5 Beta 1

Jack, is the same behavior you are seeing? The first note respects your default size, but not subsequent?

Yes. I reset default note size to 10pt. Manually created a couple of notes, which both stayed at 10pt. Copied some text, selected a verse, created a note by reference—font now showed as 11pt.

Chris,
Where are you setting your font size default? Are you setting it in Program Settings or trying to just change it within the Notes Tool?

I'm not Chris, but I have the same bug. Setting the default note size from the Preferences Panel = Program Settings.

Chris,
Could you provide a screencast (video recording) of what you are doing? I'm not able to reproduce this bug, so I want to make sure I'm using the same steps you are using to reproduce them.

I've been trying to upload the video file, but I keep getting a 404
Have another option for me to get it to you?

I can probably email the video file to you...
But for some reason, I'm getting a 404 message when I try to attach it to a reply here on this thread

Hi Chris,
I've messaged you on Faithlife with the email you can send the video too. I really appreciate it you sharing the video.

Hi Chris,
Thanks to the information you provided I was able to reproduce this bug. I've filed a bug report.

To clarify:
I have set default font size to 10. If I create a note and type, the tool honors that setting. However, if I paste text into the note, the font is set to 11. That is not what I want.

I have the same problem. I set 11 as the font size in settings, but when I copy notes from a book to my notes file, the text always shows up in 12.

This is by design.
- Pasted text retains source formatting by default, including font face and size.
- Pasted plain text should respect your destination formatting.
On Windows, you can paste-as-plain-text with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+V.
On either platform, you can clear formatting from text that has already been pasted to a note with the "Clear formatting" button or Ctrl+space.

Sorry Adam. That is not true. I selected a block of 10pt text from a MS Word document. When pasted into a note, it became 11 pt.

Unless I missed something in this thread, this is reported as a Mac OS bug. Windows shortcuts are not very helpful.
"Clear Formatting" button? Well, surprise—there is one.

Sorry, I should have been clearer; I was stating how it's supposed to work. If it's not working as designed, that's a bug. (Caveat: We've done work to make sure this works with, Word, Google Docs, and web pages, but it might not work with other sources. Copying and pasting formatted text turns out to be surprisingly complex, and has to be handled for each copy-source separately.)
Having said that, I still can repro as you describe, using Word for Mac version 16.26 on MacOS 10.14.5. (I'm also running an internal build of Logos 8.7.0.0147, but I don't think that would make a difference in this case.) We'll keep investigating, but any other information you can provide would be helpful.

On my iPad, so I cannot quote a portion of your post. Happy to hear you will continue investigating. Can’t think of anything else, but if I do, I will let you know.

This is a little annoying.
For me I don't have to wait to reopen L8 [8.5.0.0026] Windows 10 ver1903. My font changes within the same note as I am working on it. When I am finished for that day, the note is riddled with a mix of 11/12 point font even though my default is 12.
It just won't hold to the default setting and I don't even want to talk about starting a note in mobile then continuing on the desktop. I have to change the fond each and every time I work on a note.
That being said, love the software and I am sure the bugs will be worked out soon enough.
Below is a typical note. this is a portion of something I just wrote in the last hr on my win10 desktop. L8 was never closed, I only switched between notes and other resources. Notes was never closed.
Red is 11 points, Green is 12 points

this is my first post thinking that this is the place to put information that would help the guys when they are working on bugs? i have a similar but not same issue as chris's where i have my existing note, default font size 11, and when i cut and paste from Bible text into the note it gets pasted as 12 point rather than in my default font size. this was not happening a number of weeks ago, then started happening, and now continues to happen post update. hope this helps thank you!

Adam explained the reason for this in this post 1055455.aspx on page 1 of this thread.

Robert,
If you are copying and pasting text from a source that is using a different font size it will be carried over into the note when it is pasted.

Has there been any resolution to this problem?
I love the Notes tool, but it distracts study and wastes time to constantly fix inconsistent typeface sizes when composing notes. Even with a copy/paste of plain text from NotePad, the Notes tool always changes the size of the text to 11-point instead of my specified default.

I understand the plain text function and sometimes use it if I wish to "clear formatting" as noted above. However, when copy-pasting from a Logos resource I more often like to keep not only italicised/bold text, but also links embedded in the source document. These are of course lost with plain text.
Is any thought being given to a similar function like "Merge Formatting" (available in Word for PC, not sure about Mac)? This changes the font and size to suit the target document (in this case a Note), but keeps the formatting of the source document.

This is the first place I have found that at least has something about setting Font default. Where do I find the "Program Settings" or how do I get to the "Notes Tool" settings? and which will accomodate my need to set the primary default Font?
I get how to change it when I need it, but cannot figure out how to change to a default I would prefer ~Thanks for your assistance ~
Bill
