It could be an index issue but do you have problems with normal searches eg. Basic Search for "the" in entire library or Bible Search for "the" in All Bibles?
Did this search successfully last week (a couple of times; to check before answering a post). Yes it took a really long time (but i expected that). There are just a couple things that are different for my system: metadata changed for the ESV to fix RI problem, and installed a piece of software.
i'm running a virus scan now and will run a complete disk check afterwards.
Since it ran a couple of times last week, i would expect that indexing should be alright. Figure that the index doesn't change. Tried to reduce differences like ensuring that no highlighting was turned on in any resource, limit the resources that it checked, etc. But it continued to crash, even with a single Bible and not searching highlighting. Rebooted and still crashed, opened, cleared history, and closed L4. That got standard searches from crashing. Seems that something weird has happened.
Edit: i had to change the value in Find box to force cache to change before it started operating last night.
Not able to reproduce this morning.
Check free space on C:\ drive and how much space is used by C:\Users\sclark\AppData\Local\Temp\ (a lot of intermediate results were written there).
Finally scan the hard drive for errors and defragment it.
Check free space on C:\ drive
113 GB

Thanks, i deleted most of them recovering over a GB of space.
[quote]scan the hard drive for errors
Done, no significant errors found.
[quote]defragment it
Did this too.
Thanks for your input, L4 seems to be working fine now.
