When I search my library I get much more than I am looking for.
What am I doing wrong?
How would I isolate the search to only commentaries on "1 John"?

One option would be:
type:commentary subject:"1 john"

I'd try the following:
type:commentary subject:"1 john"
Simply typing text without specifying a field searches anywhere in the metadata.
