"Description" of Journals in Logos Library

I put the word "description" in quotes because the info panel in all of our libraries is singularly worthless when it comes to providing the most useful of all possible information: A LIST OF CONTENTS.

Currently, the info panel for most journals only gives generic information about the journals, and ALL of the volumes of a given journal have the same information. What use is that??? Yeah, it would take a little bit of time for someone to copy and paste the contents into the info description, but the usefulness and utility would be drastically enhanced. This goes for collections of essays as well. CAN THIS BE DONE?

Fwiw, I made a similar request regarding essay collections a few years back. When a collection of essays has a product description that doesn't bother to list the name of the articles, as far as I'm concerned, I just ignore it. If you want my money at least have to good sense to let me know what I'm paying for. I don't know if FL has bothered to update their product descriptions in this way, but offers of a pig in a poke are a deal breaker for me. This should be an easy fix.

I have long wished that there were an editable Comments field for each item in our library, where we could put our own stuff to supplement the Faithlife-provided description. A field that would show up in the Info panel in the Library when that was open, and in the Info panel of the book when the book is open and its Info panel is opened. Sometimes, for example with some eBooks, the description is very sparse. This Comments field could be a place for us to put our own summary or outline of the book, or the contents of a journal issue or book of essays as you wish for.

Yes, I suppose I could attach a Note to the beginning of a book to add a summary or outline or more elaborate description of the book. But I'd want to be able to cursor through my Library and see these Comments along with the other metadata, which you can't do with Notes.

I'm rereading my post and think that perhaps I was not as clear as I intended to be. I'm not asking for the ability to add the contents of each journal volume myself. I want FL to do it! To me it's a serious usability failure to not include the individual articles (or essays) in the info panel. The amount of time it would cost users to add this fundamental utility to their libraries (with each person having to do the exact same cut and paste for every journal volume and essay collection they own) is obscene. This isn't something that a small number of users would gain benefit from. If FL does this (as it should have been done from the outset), then it's done FOR ALL USERS. This is far more useful to me than an umpteenth dataset that I will never use.

I do this, but its cumbersome. I attach a note to each letter of the title; I then have to cursor each note. This is a lot like looking for a glass in someone else's kitchen - opening multiple doors till ''eureka.'' It becomes harder when one owns multiple volumes from a given author: now its which kitchen am I fetchin' from.

I asked for something like this years ago and if I remember rightly, I or someone created a uservoice idea topic, but apparently, it never got off the ground (might have been shot down!).

This is a very, very good idea.

I know. I didn't mean that I was reinforcing your suggestion. I was just piggy-backing on your suggestion with my own, that would (in the meantime) also provide a way for one to do that oneself if FL never gets around to it, but my reasons for wanting it are entirely different from yours. I'd want to use it for a summary or my own notes about the book as a whole that go beyond tagging and star rating. Stuff I'd want to be able to see while browsing my library. Sorry for hijacking your thread for something marginally related.
