Help Installing In New Laptop

Is there a way to install Logos 8 in my new laptop in such a way that it doesn’t require download and indexing for long periods of time. I think I heard skmewh that you can just transfer the files from the old laptop to the new.

Any way to save time, that you can share, will be greatly appreciated 👍😁👌

Method 2 on this wiki page used to work great. However, with the changes in 8.4 it apparently will not work for a fresh installation. Perhaps Method 3 is now your best bet.

If I do a fresh install of L8 will my previous L7, L6, etc. be installed also (feature wise)? I figured they should since I’ve been upgrading all these years.

Yes, with the exception of features that have been depreciated. For example, the Handouts tool was depreciated. The other change would be to how some of the tools and features function in L8 vs previous versions. For example, the Notes Tool is different in L8 than it was in L7 and earlier. You will not lose any resources you are licensed for.

I've updated the wiki page after a recent test. Method 2 will work for a fresh installation, especially if the installation on the old laptop will be uninstalled. If both installations remain, they will become resource clones of one another (if you remove/download resources on one, it will be reflected on the other), If there is any doubt, then use Method 3.
