Panel History

I notice these "hash marks" in the area that slides a document up or down. I think in logos it's called panel history. What's the purpose of the panel history other than a visual I've done something to this document?  Is it possible to clear or turn this off?

I think you are referring to the vertical scroll area of resources, although it may also apply to  documents (items from the Documents menu or Docs)! It's a  history of sorts, but Panel History is different again.  Go to Tools > Program Settings

The items I've circled would be responsible for the hash marks. Set them to NO.
