Is there a convenient document that explains the various genre of Psalms in the Psalms explorer? It's nice having them categorized, but it would be nice to know the criteria.
Since Psalms Explorer was internally created, FL may have something internal. However, if you hover over each Psalm, a pop-up provides more detail about how the Genre assignment is supported.

All I'm looking for is the definition of their terms: lament, praise, hymn, etc.
I do realize that I can look in the OED for a definition of those terms, but that doesn't mean that Logos used those definitions precisely.
I also realize that they didn't simply run an algorithm, but thought about each Psalm individually.
But, they clearly applied certain criteria to each Psalm to categorize it. I'm looking for those criteria, such as they are.

I would not presume to know the perspective of those who worked on the development of the Psalms Explorer. However, it seems to me that that that if the genre of a Psalm is identified as Praise, and the information on that Psalm includes how praise is identified with the text, I have a pretty good idea of what praise means to the person who tagged it that way.

I'm going to address the 900 lb. gorilla sitting in the room. The documentation you seek is lacking. I agree this would be useful to have. The About section puts that they have largely followed Hermann Gunkel, however, they also indicate they have deviated from this source using AYBC and "other" commentaries. Clearly, we would be better served by documentation of their methodology and a bibliography.
