Weird error on forum when you try to attach too big a log file

I tried to attach a logos.log file that was over 16MB in size. (I didn't know it was that big at the time.) I deleted the content of the "Max width" and "Max height" fields.
When I clicked "Insert" I got the following error message.
When I zipped that log file and attached it, it worked fine.
Shouldn't the forum software be able to figure out if an attachment is too big and report that that's the reason for the failure, rather than putting up this message that most people wouldn't have a clue how to resolve?
