Change Needed for Upper End Tablets!

The iPad Pro (gen 3) 2018 is essentially a computer. For instance mine is equipped with a blazing fast processor, 6 gb RAM, and a terabyte of memory.

That said: people who own high end tablets ought to be able to run full Logos and not a trimmed down phone version:

It is certainly feasible now. A csr for the company told me in chat that the tech is not there yet. With respect that can hardly be true. Just note that a full featured version of Photoshop is coming to iOS! https://www.macstories.net/news/adobe-unveils-photoshop-for-ipad-launching-in-2019/ . If that can happen, then certainly full-Logos can happen.
I can hardly be the only person with an extensive Logos library who much prefers my tablet. Please guys, make this happen. It will help your users, but it will also in the long run help your company.

If For no other reason than economy of scale, it will not happen anytime soon. Your best bet is the web app.

Lots of reasons why it’s not likely to happen! Just bear in mind that if your new iPad is as good as a computer why haven’t Apple installed their own operating system as used on their computers. There is no file system on IOS to speak of. It’s a game and a half to try and link to any external drive and mostly just not possible. Try linking up a mouse your iPad.

Also bear in mind that Adobe is a massive set up with money pouring into it from the Millions of users it has. Logos is basically free, you only pay for resources and some of them come free with the package.

To be fair, these are all intentional design decisions. Apple has intentionally kept Mac and iOS separate with Mac being a mouse based operating system and iOS a touch based operating system. It's not a hardware decision--the iPad Pro is a powerful computer and the original posters point is true. Over the next 5-10 years I bet we will see most users move to iPad like computers because the hardware and software are powerful enough for most users. Adobe is simply reading the writing on the wall.

I've used an iPad Pro and honestly I don't see the need for a mouse on iOS though there are strong rumors Apple is going to add support for a mouse in iOS 13.

Support for external drives is really needed and hopefully comes with iOS 13. However, Apple's approach to files was also a design decision. iOS is app centric vs. file centric. While I expect they will add a few more features to file management, none of this affects apps like Logos. Plus once you mentally switch over to the iOS paradigm it makes a lot more sense than you would think. Some file management is needed but it's not as big a weakness as it once was.

I posted a thread with iOS requests a few months back. There are some basic changes Logos could easily make that would go a long way to making it much more productive on iPad. There's no reason to bring over every desktop feature, but for many users tablets are the future so more functionality is needed. I'm sure FL recognizes this so I'd expect the next year or so will bring some solid improvements to the iPad app. My only hope is that they don't make all new functionality dependent on an internet connection. There are still plenty of places in the world with slow internet or no internet.

It's not just a question of RAM and chip frequency, but chip design. Apple builds their own ARM chips for the iPads, iPhones, etc., but Intel is in the desktops/laptops. So the traditional OSX isn't technically designed for, let alone optimized for, an iPad.

There are strong rumors Apple is moving towards jettisoning Intel, since they've been problematic in delivering promised tech and holding apple back.

Hi Samuel. I must say I thought that logos Web app was going to be the solution for those of us who would really love to see the full programme on our shiny new iPad pros. However, it doesn’t seem to have very much functionality compared to the full programme.

it remains to be seen whether pads will replace our desktops, or even laptops. With neither Android or IOS being ideal at the moment and not even much choice of pads on the market. And, of course, the price! My iPad cost more than my laptop by about £200 and that is quite a chunk of cash.
