Why would I choose Libronix over Logos 4 for my front end? What are the advantages/disadvantages?
Your front end? I'm not familiar with that terminology. Libronix (Logos 3) has a few features that haven't been implemented yet. Some old fogies just like the way Logos was "back in the day" and won't switch to L4 just yet.

User Interface. -- Meaning continuing to use Version 3, even if upgrading to a larger library package of resources,
At least that is what it means to me.
I will ponder your question and get bck to you.
I haven't opened L3 in months, since all of my old books have been updated. It takes a while to learn the features... There are many ways to discover new features, and L4 has many new smart features that are clearly worthwhile. Well worth the upgrade!
Maybe you should elaborate why you are considering this step.
Ian, there are a few notable features that are not yet implemented in the new architecture of L4 (or quite up to par with how they were in L3). Some people have been keeping L3 on their machines for those, either to work with alongside L4 for when they absolutely need to do something that can't be done yet in L4, or as a security blanket as they go through the learning curve of L4. (However in my opinion, hanging onto it for the latter reason just slows down the learning curve; nothing quite like jumping in the deep end to learn to swim.) And a very few have refused to start using L4 yet until it reaches feature parity with L4, probably sometime this autumn. The choice is yours depending on what features you use. If you had not been a L3 user yet, you probably ought to just bite the bullet and start with L4 because you won't have to unlearn stuff and learn a new way of doing it. However, the following are the "missing features" in L4, each of which has some champions on these forums who feel they can't do without it for now:

Also topic searching (which was called "topic browser" in the old system) is not yet back to the ease and breadth that it was in L3 because they've totally redone the way it is implemented -- they're now using LCV (Logos Controlled Vocabulary) to tag all the resources such as dictionaries and encyclopedias so that searching for topics will get better results. But it's a long process to go back and retag all the existing resources so for now only a few of the reference books work with this new way of doing it.
In spite of the "missing features" Logos 4 is an incredibly powerful application. Watch a couple of the videos on how to use it for sermon prep, for example, or other user-created tutorial videos, to see it in use and get an idea of what it can do. Logos also has a whole slew of basic training videos for it. Be prepared to spend some time up front learning it, which will pay off in productivity down the road. And we on this forum are at your disposal to answer any questions if you have trouble figuring out how to do something or just want to know better how something works. There's also the Logos wiki which has many great pages (mostly user-created) of illustrated guides to the features. Start with the Table of Contents.
In addition to the other information on this thread....
A factor to consider is the horsepower of your computer. Logos 4 is designed for newer machines. If you have an older machine it may run slower that you desire. With that said I find L4's interface to be more intuitive than L3's and I use L4 much more than I ever did L3 (your mileage may vary).
