Making Personal Books Appear in 'Guides'

I have compiled all of my Seminary Notes into personal books in Logos 8. I would like to have content appear in Passage Guides etc. Is there a way that I can have it search and show Bible References from Personal Books?

I am not 100% sure what exactly you are asking. Whenever I have created a Personal Book, the compiler has been pretty good at recognizing Bible references and inserting the appropriate link. Admittedly this functionality is not 100% accurate, and I have often cleaned it up by being specific, but it generally works well at creating a bible reference link, which works with Logos Search.

That said, if you want a personal book to be a Bible Commentary show up as such in a passage guide, you do need to do more work. An old example from the forums is at https://community.logos.com/forums/t/36303.aspx

In short, the work has to have tagging to be a TARGET (so @Bible tags). It also has to be compiled as a Bible Commentary - not a monograph or even commentary.

You could create a Collection that includes your personal books, then add that Collection as a Guide section

To do this use the rule

As Fred illustrates you can include a collection of your Personal Books in a Collections section of a guide, but it is better (as per Ken) if you compile your Notes as Type Bible Notes or Type Bible Commentary (the first is more suitable for personal notes), and include the collection in a Commentaries section of a guide. It means that the main bible references have to be tagged like:

    [[@Bible:Jn 1:6-8]] Jn 1:6-8

notes on this passage...which might include references to other parts of the bible; like Acts 19:4

    [[@Bible:Jn 1:9-10]] Jn 1:9-10

     notes on this passage...

See the wiki on Personal Books for more detail.
