I haven't installed this yet but will the handout tool come back in the future or is it dead now?

It's dead. Announcement (obituary?) is here: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/180932.aspx
Well that stinks! Thank you Levi... I liked the handouts tool. I am sad it is gone
If you haven't updated to 8.5 on one of your devices, you can create some extra blank handouts. I don't know if it's possible to share some blank handouts, but if so I made some extras that I give you.
That's a good idea... I'll do that before the update installs!
(from the Release Notes) Logging Moved the default logging folder location to: %LocalAppData%\Faithlife\Logs\Logos\ %LocalAppData%\Faithlife\Logs\Verbum\
(from the Release Notes)
Logging
Well, that change is rather annoying. It takes 8 clicks in Windows to navigate to that Logos folder to find log files. It used to be readily available. I've made a shortcut to the new folder under Favorites in Windows Explorer, but that takes up another precious line of vertical real estate in that navigation panel which I'd rather not give up.
What was the reason for changing the location of the log files? Was there a problem with the old location?
We had feedback from multiple users that the "Documents" folder is for user-created documents, and not for application log files. (The Windows Design Guidelines agree on this point.)
It's a signficant burden to people who sync their Documents folder with OneDrive (or similar), as it's continually trying to upload and sync updated logs (which are per-machine, anyway).
Finally, it's not compatible with Windows 10 Controlled Folder Access, an opt-in security setting that blocks applications from modifying user folder locations.

You can put the shortcut on your desktop rather than in Explorer. (I suggest that knowing full well that you know what you're doing...)

OK. I'll accept that.
My Logos 8 do not want to upgrade to 8.5. Every time when the download is finished, I get the annoying message that another instance of Logos is installing. And then the update of 202 Mb is starting all over again. Where can I download 8.5 and install it manually? It is frustrating.
There's a download link in the OP
What is the OP? Can you give me the link, please?
I have managed to update to 8.5 with LogosSetup[:D]
From the Release Notes:
Thank you so much for this improvement! It's great to be able to see resource information and to find note occurrences, regardless of the anchor being primary or secondary.

Notes Tool
Philana, What is the improvement that was made with timestamp labels on notes? I don't see any difference in the timestamp labels. I was hoping that would mean bringing back the precise date and timestamp we had in Logos 7.
Kiyah, you can hover over the "friendly" date yo see the precise date of both creation and modification.
I see now, thanks Reuben.
I would much prefer to be able to see the full date at first glance though. I wonder if Logos could introduce that as a display setting option for Notes. That would give users an option as to whether they want to see the full date on the note itself or if they prefer to see it on hover.
It is dead with no plans to bring it back. That may change in the future, but I would not count on it.
Chu, read the 3rd message in this thread!
