Bug: Clause Search on "bara" (created)

See this thread for background.

verb-lemma:ברא.1  AND agent:ANY  has 33 results in 29 verses

verb-lemma:ברא.1  AND agent:God  has 30 results in 26 verses

which would indicate three verses with an Agent other than God i.e.

  • Is 40.26
  • Is 45.8
  • Is 57.19

You can get these 3 alone with verb-lemma:ברא.1  AND agent:ANY ANDNOT agent:God
The problem is that Clause Participants in a Word Study of "bara" only shows God as an Agent (30x).

And the Dataset Documentation shows that there were other Agents at one time...

Search results for the Verb in LHB are interesting:-

  • verb-lemma:ברא.1 has 43 results in 37 verses, whereas
  • lemma:ברא:1 has 48 results in 41 verses in Morph Search!?

The difference being Ps 102:18 (BHS Ps 102:19), Ec 12:1, Is 43:1 and Is 65:17.

    Hi Dave:

    Thanks for pointing out these problems. There are a couple of different issues that I'm attempting to disentangle: some having to do with referent tagging, some having to do with semantic role tagging, and some having to do with syntactic structure (e.g., no agent is annotated when the verb is syntactically treated as a noun in Andersen-Forbes; i.e., "your Creator" in places like Ecc 12:1 and Is 43:1).

    The first two types of problems I will be working on fixing. For the syntactic issues, I will see what I'm able to do, but nominal uses were initially out of the scope of the semantic role annotation and may remain so.

    The documentation definitely needs to be updated because there were changes to how we aggregated referents associated with the semantic roles in a given case-frame. So, the image that you link to is outdated and incorrect.
